This course is designed to provide a basic understanding of how to participate in Precision Rifle Series (PRS) type matches. It is further designed to help you develop basic skills to feel comfortable and be able to safely compete in a PRS match.

Prerequisites: You should already have a basic understanding of long-range shooting and be able to calculate and obtain data to engage targets out to 1,000 yards. Each shooter will be required to demonstrate this ability to ensure no rounds leave the range. We will provide basic assistance.

This course is designed to provide a basic understanding of how to participate in Precision Rifle Series (PRS) type matches. It is further designed to help you develop basic skills to feel comfortable and be able to safely compete in a PRS match.

Prerequisites: You should already have a basic understanding of long-range shooting and be able to calculate and obtain data to engage targets out to 1,000 yards. Each shooter will be required to demonstrate this ability to ensure no rounds leave the range. We will provide basic assistance setting up a ballistics solver, however, this is not what the class is for.

 Timeline Example:

0830: Introductions / Safety Brief / Agenda / Range Specific Rules
0900: Intro to PRS Style Match Briefing
– What gear do you need at a match?
– What other items are necessary to complete your first match?
0930: Shooters demonstrate ability to obtain data to engage target at 600 yards.
1000: Pre match preparation
– What should I be doing before the match starts?
– The day before and the morning of?
1000: Stage 1: PRS Skill Barricade
-Each stage will consist of:
-Instruction and demonstration
-Student dry fire
-Student live fire
1130: Lunch (Pack your own lunch)
1230: Stage 2
1330: Stage 3
1430: Stage 4
1530: Stage 5
1630: Wrap-Up
– Ask follow-up questions
1700: Training Ends (Depart Range)

Required Gear

Mandatory:

– Rifle capable of 1 MOA or Better
– Scope with dial-able turrets / MIL or MOA measuring reticles
— (A rental scope can be provided if available)
– Ammunition: 160 rounds of high-quality match grade ammo. This will allow about 3 live runs through each stage and 10 rounds to verify ability at 600 yards.
– Eye and Ear Protection
– Pack to carry your ammo and gear around the range. This will require some walking
– Appropriate clothing for kneeling in rocks, grass, and/or dirt (Knee pads are a plus)
– A data book and a way to hold data while shooting (quarterback wrist coach is good)
– You will need a pen to write with
– Smart Phone capable of downloading and running Hornady 4DOF or StrelokPro OR a Kestrel with a ballistics solver

Recommended Gear:

– Tripod
– Spotting scope or Binoculars capable of seeing clearly at 1,000 yards.
– Water / Snacks

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

    • Cancellation and refund request must be made 5 days or more before the start of the class. Any cancellation inside 5 days of the start of the class will incur a 10% cancellation fee to cover non-refundable fees.
